I look around to realize I’ve fallen down
And my vision is obscured, lying here on the ground
It is hard to get up, hard to move on
Because sometimes I feel like everything’s lost
I had a plan, a road which to follow
Lined with forest and meadows
Running aside rivers and steams
And a perfect companion was there by my side
To help me take in this wonderful ride
But my life is not mine
It was bought with a price
And my plan is lost to the will of another
This road is hard
Marked by thorns and thistle
But the path is clear for those who listen
And the destination is glorious redemption
For it was paved with the blood of my Savior and King
Mapped out by His loving hand
And though I give up my most cherished of dreams
I know that His plan is what is best for me
And when I look back
From finished perfection
At the path he is leading me upon
I will laugh at this misery
And wondered at my pain
For then I will see
That right here beside me
Gently urging me on
Is the One who gives hope
The One bringing purpose
Carefully leading me home
Where life will be perfect
And the past will not matter
For then I will be all that I can
