When I first wrote an “About” page it was twelve words long. I can write at least 10x that now.
Lets start with the blog name, “I am Convinced”. “I am Convinced” come from my life verse (Romans 8:38-39). I chose Romans 8:38-39 as my life verse because of what it means. The apostle Paul was convinced that a relationship with Christ meant there was absolutely nothing that can or will disconnect one from the love of God. That when Christ died on the cross, He effectively canceled out the only barrier between God and man. Sin is what kept us from God and through His death on the cross Christ took the punishment for our sin. And by accepting Jesus Christ as one’s personal Lord and savior, they reestablish the connection to God and sin is destroyed. The new connection is unbreakable (by putting my faith in Christ I am now so plugged into the love of God that even I myself cannot “disconnect”). What does such a relationship cost? First, admitting you are a sinner before God. Second, believing that Jesus died on the cross and after three days rose from the dead to atone for your sins against God. Third, confessing Jesus as Lord of your life (meaning you live for Him first and foremost). Now a warning to everyone. Faith in Christ will and should change your life. When you become a Christian, it means you give your life to Him to use how He wants – not how you want. (Now is the part where you ask, “So what is the point of becoming a Christian?”) Following Christ will save you from eternal punishment. When you go 40 mph in a 25 mph school zone you get a ticket. You can either pay the fine or spend a few nights in jail. It is the same way with sin. Except you cannot “pay the fine” because you do not have enough “money” and “jail” is Hell. What Jesus offers is to pay the fine for you. That is why saving faith changes your life. Part of the terms and conditions of Christ paying the fine is that you avoid “speeding” again. You live to please God and avoid sin, often meaning you must deny yourself. But he saves you from eternity in HELL and gives you eternity in HEAVEN. And believe me, that is well worth the “terms and conditions”. How do I know this? Because I have experienced it. But, that, perhaps, is for another blog.
Now to the blog itself. I am Convinced is a personal blog and while, yes, a lot of what I post will be “religious”, I do enjoy many things. I can guarantee multiple post about the Kansas City Royals/Chiefs/Jawhawks. I enjoy fishing, boating, biking and various other outdoors-ey things and even have a few political opinions. So, there it is. All 40x the original “About” page.
